Case Study: JJO Holdings Wine Label Design
Client Brief: JJO Holdings approached me to create a distinctive in-house wine label for their restaurant featuring a range of Red, White, and Sparkling wines. The client emphasized the importance of a design that is simple, clean, and bold, with a focus on making the type of wine stand out visually.
Challenges:
- Craft a design that effectively communicates the type of wine – Red, White, and Sparkling – while maintaining simplicity.
- Ensure the label is clean and uncluttered, aligning with the elegance associated with wine.
- Implement a bold and attention-grabbing element to make the wine type easily discernible.
Approach:
- Distinctive Color Coding: To clearly differentiate the types of wine, I employed a distinct color scheme for Red, White, and Sparkling varieties. Red for robust red wines, white for crisp whites, and a touch of sparkle for the effervescent Sparkling selection.
- Bold Typography: Choosing a bold and elegant font, I prioritized legibility to make the wine type prominent. The typography becomes a focal point, contributing to the overall clean and modern aesthetic.
- Contrast and Hierarchy: Playing with contrasting colors and font sizes, I established a clear hierarchy, ensuring that the type of wine is the most eye-catching element. This deliberate choice enhances the label's functionality.
Result: The finalized wine label design for JJO Holdings strikes the perfect balance between simplicity and boldness. The distinctive color-coding effectively communicates the type of wine, while the bold typography ensures easy readability. The minimalistic imagery adds a touch of sophistication without compromising the label's clean aesthetic.
This design not only aligns with the client's vision but also enhances the overall branding of JJO Holdings' restaurant. It transforms the wine labels into visual elements that not only showcase the variety of wines but also contribute to a refined and cohesive dining experience for patrons.
